3 Reasons Why Your Family Isn't Drinking Enough Water

Posted on: 4 August 2015

Although you might enjoy a nice, fizzy soda every now and then, you probably know that it's best if you and your family drink water most of the time. If you have found that your household just doesn't drink enough water, however, you could be worried about how your loved ones' health will be affected. Luckily, there are a few common issues that can cause many families not to drink as much water as they should, and making a few changes should help you and your loved ones to get in the habit of drinking water more frequently.

1. It Doesn't Taste Good

First of all, many people simply do not like the taste of water. This could be because they are accustomed to drinking drinks with added sugar and flavor, or it could be because the water in your municipality isn't treated properly. Either problem is easy to fix, though. If your municipal water doesn't have a pleasant taste, then you can install a water treatment system (like Water By George Water systems) in your own home. Not only can this make the water taste and smell a lot better, but it can also help filter out harmful ingredients.

If that still doesn't do the trick, experiment with various flavorful additions to make it taste a little better. Obviously, you can add a traditional lemon or lime, or you can get funky by adding orange slices or fresh cucumber. If you have an herb garden, you can grab a handful of fresh mint to add for a delicious, fresh taste. There are also flavorful add-in powders that you can purchase from the grocery store that are reasonably healthy but that can make your water taste like your favorite fruit punch or lemonade.

2. It's Not Easy to Grab

If other types of drinks are more convenient for your family members to grab, you can count on them grabbing those rather than water. This is why you need to make water the easiest thing in your household to grab when someone is thirsty. You can do so by keeping a pitcher of ice cold water in your refrigerator and by filling up refillable water bottles and keeping them on hand so that you and your family members can grab them when you are on the go.

3. You Aren't Leading By Example

If you find that you are always sipping on a soda or drinking a glass of juice, you can expect your loved ones to follow suit, particularly if you have kids. It's best to lead by example by drinking plenty of water yourself.

While I was taking a morning shower, I started hearing a gurgling sound. Immediately, I knew what was happening. I quickly finished my shower and informed my dad of the problem. Because it was Sunday, he couldn’t contact professional help until the next day. Thankfully, he was able to fix the problem temporarily. On this blog, you will discover various ways to temporarily solve a sanitation issue while you are waiting for experienced experts to get to your home. Enjoy!
